Global Regulatory Update, Aug. 12-18, 2018

The Civil Aviation Safety Authority of Australia has issued airworthiness bulletin 02-045, Issue 6, to allow use of FAA advisory circular 43.13-1B Change 1 as approved maintenance data for minor repairs of eligible engines, propellers and non-pressurized areas of airframes.

EASA has issued proposed airworthiness directive 18-113 for Airbus A350-941s, requiring a software update and  modification of the hydraulic system and fuel tank inerting system for engine driven pump rapid overheat, effective 14 days after airworthiness directive is issued.

EASA has issued proposed airworthiness directive 18-114 for Airbus A350-1041s and A350-941s, amending time limits and maintenance checks for airworthiness limitations section part 3, effective 14 days after airworthiness directive is issued.

EASA has issued airworthiness directive 2018-0170 for Airbus A300s, A300-600s and A300-600STs, requiring inspection of main landing gear hinge arm and barrel pin, effective August 20, 2018.

EASA has issued emergency airworthiness directive 2018-0171-E for Airbus A380-841s, A380-842s and A380-861s, amending the airplane flight manual for air conditioning and engine bleed air system, effective August 8, 2018.

FAA has issued airworthiness directive 2018-16-05 for certain Boeing 757s, requiring repetitive inspections for skin cracking and shim migration at the upper link drag fittings, diagonal brace cracking, and fastener looseness, and applicable on-condition actions, effective September 10, 2018.

FAA has issued airworthiness directive 2018-07-04 for Boeing MD-81s, MD-82, MD-83s, MD-87s, MD-88s and MD-90-30s, requiring modifying the air data heat system, effective September 10, 2018.

FAA has issued airworthiness directive 2018-16-09 for all Boeing 737-100s, -200s, -200Cs, -300s, -400s and -500s, requiring repetitive high frequency eddy current inspections for cracking of the fuselage frame webs at certain stations between S-7 and S-8 and applicable on-condition actions, effective September 10, 2018.

FAA has issued airworthiness directive 2018-16-03 for all Airbus A319-133s and A321-232s, requiring modification and re-identification, or replacement, of certain engine fan cowl doors and installation of a placard in the flight deck, effective August 23, 2018 .

FAA has issued airworthiness directive for certain Airbus A319s, A320s and A321-111s, -112s, -131s, -211s, -212s, -213s, -231s and -232s, requiring a detailed inspection of the battery support assemblies to identify the battery retaining rod manufacturer, replacement of the battery retaining rods with serviceable battery retaining rods if necessary and addition of applicable service information label on each battery retaining rod if necessary, effective September 12, 2018.

FAA has issued airworthiness directive 2018-16-06 for certain Boeing 747-100s, -100Bs, -100B SUDs, -200Bs, -200Cs, -200Fs, -300s, -400s, -400Ds, 747SPs, 747Ss and 747-8s, requiring inspecting for Boeing material specification 8-39 flexible urethane foam insulation in the floor panel assemblies and the power drive unit cover assemblies, doing applicable on-condition actions, modifying certain drip-shields, and replacing foam strips on certain drip-shields with specification 8-371 foam strips, effective September 12, 2018.

FAA has issued airworthiness directive 2018-16-02 for all Airbus A318-111s, -112s, A319-111s, -112s, -113s, -114s, -115s, A320-211s, -212s, -214s, -216s, A321-111s, -112s, -211s, -212s and -213s, requiring modifying and re-identifying the aft engine mount assemblies due to a report of production quality deficiency on the inner retainer installed on link assemblies, effective September 13, 2018.

FAA has issued airworthiness directive 2018-16-04 for certain Airbus A318s, A319s and A320s, A321-111s, -112s, -131s, -211s, -212s, -213s, -231s, -232s, -251Ns, -253Ns and -271Ns, requiring revising the maintenance or inspection program, as applicable, to incorporate specified maintenance requirements and airworthiness limitations, effective September 14, 2018.

The Russian Federal Air Transport Agency has issued airworthiness directive RU-2018-322-01 for Sukhoi RRJ-95Bs and RRJ-95LR-100s, requiring inspection and replacement of passenger cabin window, effective July 9, 2018.

Transport Canada has issued airworthiness directive CF-2018-21 for Bombardier DHC-8-400s, DHC-8-401s and DHC-8-402s, requiring initial and repetitive inspections of the outboard spoiler actuator brackets with part numbers 85714018-001 or 85714018-002, effective August 14, 2018.
