MRO Services For New Aircraft And New Engines

AFI KLM E&M provides Boeing 787 maintenance to airlines using the new long-haul aircraft, including LOT Polish Airlines, Royal Brunei Airlines and Xiamen Airlines. AFI KLM E&M designs and implements component-support programs to allow airlines operating 787s to launch the new aircraft with a limited investment. The tailored maintenance and support solutions cover a range of engineering services—including fleet technical support, component spares and repair services.

GE Aviation recently signed a $16 billion service contract with Dubai’s Emirates Airline for engines powering its Boeing 777X fleet. The contract includes MRO services for the GE9X engine that will power Emirates’s 150 Boeing 777Xs over the next 12 years. GE Aviation offers maintenance and overhaul services and OEM materials and repairs. Over the last 50 years, the company has repaired more than 100,000 engines, as well as some 300,000 components.

Spirit AeroSystems completed the first fuselage and other components for the Boeing 737 MAX. The company delivers about 70% of the 737 structure to Boeing, including the fuselage, pylon, thrust reverser, engine nacelle and wing leading edges. Assembly of the first MAX is scheduled for the end of 2015, with first delivery scheduled for the third quarter of 2017. Spirit AeroSystems provides MRO services, aftermarket engineering and spare parts. With repair stations in North America, Europe and Asia, the company offers MRO services for the Boeing 737, 747, 767, 777 and 787.

Component-maintenance capabilities at ST Aerospace now cover components and nacelle systems of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft. The MRO also is developing its Singapore base as a center of excellence for landing-gear repair and overhaul, and it recently acquired the remaining shareholding of Singapore Precision Repair and Overhaul, which specializes in the repair and overhaul of aircraft landing-gear systems and components. ST Aero has serviced more than 5,000 landing-gear assemblies for more than 80 aircraft operators globally.

Storm Aviation, a U.K.-based line maintenance and technical training service company, launched Airbus A380 technical training courses this year. The full training course for the A380 (Trent 900 and GP7200) technicians will take about eight weeks, with six weeks of theoretical training at London Stansted Airport and two weeks of practical training at London Gatwick or London Heathrow Airports. The courses are open to both private and corporate customers.
