Lufthansa Technik has expanded its capacities at Sofia Airport with a new hangar, office and multifunctional building—making it the largest base maintenance facility in Eastern Europe. LHT says the new expansion, which cost approximately 35 million euro, will lead to a 60% capacity increase per year and a 30% increase in the number of employees in Sofia. The modern facilities can accommodate and service eight narrowbody aircraft simultaneously and one aircraft in a nose-in position. The service spectrum will range from line maintenance to D-checks, as well as additional services, such as aircraft painting and AOG support.

Repair data and tracking management provider b2b-aero has integrated its Capabilities App into Lufthansa Technik’s AVIATAR platform. The Capabilities App allows users to find and compare offerings for MRO services for specific aircraft part numbers. The app makes information on pricing, repair station performance and certifications accessible while allowing users to send requests for quotes to suppliers and manage proposals online. Lufthansa Technik says b2b-aero is the first AVIATAR partner to use their software development kit.
