The aviation aftermarket has changed greatly in the past 30 years since Aviation Week launched MRO ’96—the first MRO event.

To give you a glimpse of the industry in 1996, here are 18 ads that appeared in either Overhaul & Maintenance’s January/February or March/April 1996 issues—the two issues leading up to MRO ’96. One common thing about the ads: companies included phone numbers and maybe a fax number—rarely a website or email yet.

Aviation Week launched Overhaul & Maintenance, the first magazine dedicated to the aviation aftermarket, in 1993. The publication later was renamed Inside MRO.

Enjoy this view of aviation aftermarket companies and the related MRO history from 30 years ago.
