Data Tool: Asia-Pacific MRO Demand And Shop Visit Projections, 2023-32

According to Aviation Week’s 2023 Commercial Aviation Fleet & MRO Forecast, commercial MRO demand in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region will represent a value of $176.9 billion for the period 2023-32. 

The data shows most of the total MRO demand in the APAC region will consist of engine maintenance work, comprising around $86.3 billion. Components and line maintenance account for 21% and 18%, respectively, while modifications and airframe heavy will see demand around $14 billion and $8.6 billion, respectively. 

Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the region witnessed a significant surge in the outsourcing of aircraft maintenance. According to Aviation Week’s MRO Prospector, the APAC region currently has a total of 1,401 known contracts, with more than 980 contracts being outsourced. Notably, the majority of these outsourced contracts (around 530 contracts) are sourced from Western Europe and around 332 contracts, are sourced from North America. 

In addition, the data shows that C checks and engine overhauls will comprise the largest share of MRO shop visits in the APAC region over the next decade. 

It is forecast that the APAC region will see a total demand of 14,548 C checks and 14,538 shop visits related to engine overhauls. Meanwhile, there will be a demand of 4,444 D checks and 4,287 engine life limited parts events in the region over the next decade.
