Aviation Technical Services (ATS) has completed consolidating three component-focused subsidiaries in its Fort Worth, Texas, facility. It unveiled plans to consolidate the businesses in February 2021 to streamline production, reduce turn-around times and make it easier for customers to do business with ATS in its component operations.
The new operation, christened ATS Components DFW, combines the company’s American Cooler Service, Aviation Industry Repair and Texas Pneumatic Systems businesses into a single, 138,000 ft.2 facility. Aviation Industry Repair, the last to move, was operational and delivered its first part on March 9.
“To be able to provide a premier environment for our customers and employees was our vision from the start,” says ATS CEO Paul Dolan. “Employees from varying disciplines across ATS collaborated to design customized work cells built around part, tooling and inventory flow efficiencies, as well as employee ergonomics.”
Services provided include repair and rotable-exchange options for a variety of aircraft components, such as structures, composites and accessories, the company says. The shop also houses machining, autoclave and heat-treat capabilities, among other services.
The changes include combining the businesses on a single Enterprise Resource Planning system, which improves inventory visibility, quote-response times and generation of key performance metrics, the company says.
