Gallery: MRO Industry Moves In 2022

The Independent Aircraft Modifier Alliance (IAMA) appointed Nina Schulz as its new managing director in January. Schulz joined IAMA from Lufthansa Technik, where she previously served as head of product sales and key account management base maintenance services for the EMEA regions.

In early February, Lufthansa Technik executive board chairman Johannes Bussmann (left) announced plans to step down in the summer. In July, Lufthansa Technik COO Soeren Stark (right) took over leadership of the MRO.

MAAS Aviation appointed Richard Marston as its new chief commercial officer in February. Marston formerly served as MAAS Aviation’s director of customer service, sales and marketing EMEA. He replaced the retiring Fran Carew in the role.

In March, Austrian Technik appointed Michael Lariviere as its new chief technical officer. Lariviere served in various technical roles at Lufthansa and Lufthansa Technik since 1994. 

Boeing Global Services appointed Stephanie Pope, who previously served as the chief financial officer of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, as its new CEO. Pope assumed leadership of the OEM's services division on April 1. Former Boeing Global Services CEO Ted Colbert was appointed as Boeing’s new CEO of Defense, Space and Security. 

Aircraft part-out specialist eCube appointed Lee McConnellogue as its new CEO in June. McConnellogue succeeded Tim Schmidt, who founded the UK-based aircraft end-of-life company in 2011 with Mike Corne. McConnellogue previously held senior roles at Monarch Aircraft Engineering, Flybe and Rolls-Royce, where he was most recently senior vice president of services operations.

HAECO announced Gerald Steinhoff (pictured) as its new chief commercial officer effective Jan. 1, 2023. Steinhoff, formerly of Hubner Group, will succeed Richard Kendall, who will be retiring from HAECO's Swire group parent company at the end of this year. 

AJW Group appointed Rachael Caston as its new CEO in September. Caston joined AJW from the UK Civil Aviation Authority, where she provided executive level leadership for the UK Airprox Board at Royal Air Force Northolt.

American Airlines promoted Evita Garces to vice president of line maintenance in October. Garces has worked at American Airlines for more than 21 years and has held several roles across its Tech Ops department.

EgyptAir Maintenance and Engineering has appointed Walid El-Khafif as its new chairman and CEO. El-Khafif, who previously held various engineering positions within EgyptAir, will oversee the company’s development projects related to the MRO supply chain and implementing digital maintenance applications.

In November, AFI KLM E&M subsidiary EPCOR confirmed Heidi Haveman will become its new managing director, effective Jan. 9, 2023. The Amsterdam-based company specializes in APU and component support.

Maria Deacon will become United Airlines’ senior vice president of technical operations, where she will oversee the U.S. airline’s maintenance, supply chain, technical services, ground support equipment and facilities maintenance. Deacon will begin the role in January 2023.
