Qatar to select Dassault Rafale

Qatar is to announce a decision to buy the Rafale fighter aircraft after a long-running competitive assessment.

The French manufacturer, Dassault, will be in Doha on Monday when the contract is expected to be signed for 24 aircraft.

The Doha decision follows the selection of the type by Egypt. A move that many saw as a way of opening the doors on further export opportunities. India also announced a government to government deal for 36 of the type earlier this month

The UAE had also selected the Rafale but talks broke down over specific requirements and is still in the balance.
