2019 Aviation Week Photo Contest Finalists: New Space

The European Space Agency's (ESA) Solar Orbiter underwent electromagnetic testing in the Magnetic Field Simulation Facility (MFSA) at IABG's space test center in Ottobrunn, Germany, on June 27, 2019. Since the 1970s, the MFSA has been instrumental in testing and qualifying a great many European satellites and spacecraft. It is the only facility of its kind in Europe. The Solar Orbiter, an ESA-led mission with NASA participation, will be launched from Cape Canaveral in 2020.
