Liberty Lifter Program Advances To Preliminary Design Phase

Credit: Aurora Flight Sciences. Aurora Flight Sciences has revealed an eight-propulsor, monohull design for the DARPA Liberty Lifter program, which aims to demonstrate a C-17-size, wing-in-ground effect strategic lifter. 

DARPA has awarded contracts to two companies to complete preliminary designs of a large, sea-based transport vehicle that can fly in and out of ground effect conditions.
