TURKISH AIRLINES agreed to lease three new GEnx-powered 787-9s and 25 new 737-8s, and extend leases on six A330-200s (869/876/949/961/977/1213), from AerCap; the new aircraft are scheduled to for delivery in 2024-2026.
HAWAIIAN AIRLINES had $48.7m net loss on $727.7m revenues in 3Q23 vs $9.3m loss on $741.2m in 3Q22. It says revenue was trending positively in July, but Lahaina wildfires on August 8 caused a sharp decrease in traffic to Maui.
BOEING had $1.6b net loss on $18.1b revenues in 3Q23 vs $3.3b loss on $16b in 3Q22 and ended quarter with $469b backlog, up from $404b at end 2022. BCA lost $678m on $7.9b revenues in 3Q23 vs $622m loss on $6.3b in 3Q22.
BOEING reduced 737 delivery projections for 2023 to 375-400 from 400-450; it expects to complete final assembly transition to 38 per month by end 2023 (going to 50 per month in 2025/2026 timeframe). It still plans to deliver 70-80 787s in 2023 and says it is now transitioning 787 production to five per month (going to 10 per month in 2025/2026).
HEXCEL had $38.7m net income on $419.5m sales in 3Q23 vs $26.8m of $364.7m in 3Q22; commercial aerospace sales rose 20.5% to $251.9m, driven by A350 and 787 programs with total narrowbody sales unchanged from 3Q22.
BOMBARDIER DEFENSE delivered the seventh Global 6000 for USAF Battlefield Airborne Communications Node (BACN) program; aircraft is designated the E-11A. USAF has option to purchase an additional aircraft per year through 2026.
LOCKHEED MARTIN has dropped out of USAF's KC-135 replacement program, but its partner, AIRBUS, says it plans to pursue the contract with its A330MRTT. With Lockheed Martin out, Boeing’s KC-46 remains the favorite for the program.
