Japanese online retailer Rakuten has formed a joint venture with low-altitude airspace service provider AirMap to provide air traffic management for unmanned aircraft systems, or UTM. Rakuten is developing a drone delivery service, called Sora Raku, and has been testing drone delivery since April 2016. The new Rakuten AirMap joint venture will provide UTM services to drone operators and airspace managers in Japan.
