The Chilean government has halted plans for the FIDAE aerospace show over concerns about the COVID-19 pandemic.

Chilean President Sebastian Pinera told Chilean TV stations March 14 that the show, planned for March 31 to April 5, would be suspended.

Airshow organizers told exhibitors that the suspension “makes it impossible to carry out the worldwide aerospace, defense and security show in the scheduled dates."

E-mails seen by Aerospace DAILY indicated that the organizers still were waiting for an official letter of suspension from the government.

The 2020 event was due to be significant, marking the 90th anniversary of the Chilean Air Force, with plans for a significant presence from other Latin American air forces as well.
