Poll: How problematic is illegal charter?

European aviation groups are focusing anew on illegal charter flights fueled by the release of a report of an accident involving a Piper Malibu in January 2019 that took the lives of Argentine football player Emiliano Sala and pilot David Ibbotson.

Sala, 28, and Ibbotson were killed after the aircraft crashed into the English Channel days after Sala had joined then Premier League Cardiff City from Nantes in France. Following the incident, there were reports that the pilot was not licensed to fly at night.

The European Business Aviation Association (EBAA), British Business and General Aviation Association (BBGA), and the Air Charter Association (ACA) took note of the accident report published by the United Kingdom’s Air Accidents Investigations Unit.
