Several companies manufacture refueling trucks that deliver Jet-A and avgas to airports and FBOs. We’ve profiled several refueler manufacturers below.

Westmor Industries serves the airline and general aviation markets through its Columbus, Minnesota-based aviation division, which manufactures a wide range of refueling equipment under the Westmor brand. The company’s product portfolio includes tankers with capacities as small as 200 gal. and as large as 10,000 gal. Its product lines also include hydrant servicers and carts with flow rates from 300 to 1,000 gal.-per-minute.

With a trend toward more automation of data gathered during refueling, most of Westmor’s current production refuelers incorporate an electronic meter register that functions as a data-gathering hub for the unit. This enables more information to be stored in the register and wirelessly transferred to the main office.

The data that can be collected includes operator IDs, aircraft tail numbers, the amount of fuel additive included, total gallons pumped, as well as differential pressure across the filtration system.

Founded in 1952, Garsite Progress LLC of Kansas City has supplied refueler trucks, above-ground fuel storage tanks and fueling hydrants to aviation in 80 countries. The company builds seven standard refueler trucks with up to 10,000 gal. capacity, including a 1,000-gal refueler for avgas. All trucks are marketed under the Garsite brand, mainly to FBOs, where the company’s 5,000 and 7,000-gal. Jet A refuelers are typically in service.

Designed for ease of operation and maintenance, Garsite’s refuelers feature air-conditioned cabs and back-up cameras as standard equipment, rather than as options. Customized options, such as a different brand of pressure control, are also available for installation at a customer’s request.

Aircraft Refueler Line

With factory locations in Regina, Saskatchewan, and Drummondville, Quebec, Canada’s Advance Engineered Products Group produces a multiple line of aircraft refuelers, with capacity ranging from 15,000 liters (4,000 gal.) to 30,000 liters (7,900 gal.) for jet fuel, including low-profile models, as well as 4,500 liters (1,200 gal.) to 10,000 liters (2,600 gal.) for piston-engine avgas and jet fuel.

The company’s tank design is double-conical, providing positive slope to a low-point sampling outlet. Low profile, 10-ft.-wide pup trailers of 30,000-40,000 liters (7,900-10,500 gallons) jet fuel capacity are also offered.

The refuelers incorporate interchangeable modular design with flow rates to 800 gal. per minute. Hose reels are large-diameter, single stack design with hose guide rollers, eliminating the need for hands-on retracting.  An elevating platform is also available on the 18,000-30,000 liter units for high-flow delivery to wide-bodied aircraft.

Electric Refuelers

Envirotech Vehicles (EVTV) earlier this year announced the delivery of two electric-powered, 900-gal. avgas refuelers to FBO Atlantic Aviation, through a partnership the company has with Garsite. EVTV supplies the electric vehicle chassis; Garsite installs the fueling module, which uses a Total Control Systems 3000 Electronic Register to measure fuel flow.

Atlantic Aviation in March said it had placed a first electric refueler into service at Aspen/Pitkin County Airport (ASE), Colorado.

EVTV builds electric vehicles for commercial and public-sector markets, including Class 3-6 medium duty trucks up to 19,500 lb., commercial vans, an 84-passenger school bus and specialty vehicles such as a planned lavatory servicing vehicle for aviation. The company is refurbishing a 580,000-sq-ft. former Fruit of the Loom factory in Osceola, Arkansas, for electric vehicle final assembly and pre-delivery inspection.

Other companies and partnerships that have manufactured electric refuelers include Air bp, SEA Electric and Refuel International, which introduced a 4,226-gal. Jet-A1 refueler at Brisbane Airport in Australia in August 2022. Titan Aviation of France has developed a 5,283-gal. Jet-A1 electric refueler.

Along with being a fuel distributor, Avfuel Corp. of Ann Arbor, Michigan, designs and builds refueler trucks, which are manufactured by its Avtank Division.

Currently, more than 700 Avfuel-branded jet fuel and avgas trucks are in service throughout the U.S. The company offers avgas trucks with capacities ranging from 1,200 to 1,500 gal. and jet fuelers with capacities of 3,000, 5,000 and 7,000 gal. Avfuel also refurbishes and rechassis both avgas and jet fuel trucks.

The company’s refueling trucks meet Airlines for America ATA Spec. 103 and National Fire Protection Association 407 fuel service standards and can safely store and dispense sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), either comingled with traditional Jet-A or contained in dedicated tanks.

Vehicle electrical system and control panels are designed to be plug and play, enabling harnesses and control panels to be repaired or replaced by the end user if damaged. Refueler diagnostics are made simple, with easy to read prints and drawings, Avfuel says.
