From The Archives: Gazelle Courts U.S. Corporate Market

In the Business Flying section of the Feb. 11, 1974 issue of Aviation Week & Space Technology, we reported on the Aerospatiale Gazelle, a five-space helicopter, which was expected to account for 50% of 1974 sales for the French manufacturer's U.S. subsidiary Vought Helicopter Corps.

Primary market will be the corporate user. Rectangular white package between landing gear skid struts houses pop-out flotation gear. You can see the expanded instrument panel, designed as a new optional feature for the executive version of the Gazelle in preparation for qualifying the helicopter for single pilot instrument flight rules (IFR) operation.

In the article you can see more images, including the interior which is configured for three passengers in rear and one on left side in front. Quick change feature permits folding rear seating into the flooring without using tools or dismantling accessories enabling the Gazelle to handle up to 1,332 lb. of freight internally.
