Aviation Week Staff October 01, 2026
Regent Craft’s full-scale crewed seaglider prototype performed a test flight in front of a large crowd of employees, investors, customers, government officials and media in Rhode Island’s Narragansett Bay on Sept. 30, 2026.
Also present for the demonstration flight was Regent’s Squire smaller uncrewed vessel, which is being developed for search and rescue; intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance; electronic warfare and other defense missions.
The squire uncrewed vessel was remotely controlled by Regent test pilots on a small chase boat.
Viceroy flies roughly one wingspan over the water using wing-in-ground effect.
Viceroy features 12 electric propulsion units driving propellers along the wing-leading edge to create a distributed blown-lift system.
The Viceroy is designed to cruise at 180 mph with a range of 180 mi.
Regent boasts a conditional orderbook worth more than $10 billion, mostly consisting of nonbinding letters of intent.
