More first-time buyers are getting into business aviation, even as low inventories have created a sellers’ market in pre-owned aircraft. For those new to aircraft ownership, as well as experienced operators, brokers are helping their clients navigate the current market, as airline service remains below pre-pandemic levels, and many people continue to feel safer on a private aircraft.

A Citation Focus
Southern Sky Aviation Brokerage (dba Southern Sky Aviation), focuses heavily on Cessna Citation jets, due to their “superior dispatch reliability and manageable operating cost.” With long experience in the financial operation of the aircraft, the company can depict and advise clients about year-to-year operating costs.  As one part of a full-service aviation company, the brokerage operation also draws on the expertise of its maintenance and operations departments during the aircraft purchase process.

Currently, about seven out of 10 Southern Sky Aviation Brokerage customers are corporations, of which three out of four are first time buyers.  The corporations are looking to capture the bonus depreciation of their purchase, and with a private aircraft, complete a trip in a day, which could take three to four days via the airlines.
