The recent commentary “Darpa Shows One Way, House Panel Another” (AW&ST May 26/June 2, p. 14) made some good points. Congress needs to understand Darpa’s fundamental mission, which is clearly noted in its name: “defense,” “advanced” and “research.” The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency is an entity of the Defense Department, associated with all of the military services in their respective mission objectives and capabilities. ...
