Victoria Moores joined Air Transport World as our London-based European Editor/Bureau Chief on 18 June 2012. Victoria has nearly 20 years’ aviation industry experience, spanning airline ground operations, analytical, journalism and communications roles.
Victoria began her aviation career in 1997, working in airline ground operations in the UK and Belgium for British Midland International. She returned to the UK in late 2001 and took on the role of operations analyst for Bombardier Flexjet Europe, gaining experience in the business aviation sector.
In 2003, she joined Reed Business Information as an aviation journalist for its Flightglobal titles. After six years writing for newswire Air Transport Intelligence, Victoria became Features Editor of Airline Business magazine in spring 2009.
Most recently Victoria was General Manager Communications for the Association of European Airlines (AEA), an industry body which represents the interests of 34 major European network carriers. In this role, she was responsible for directing the association’s media relations strategy.
Victoria holds an Air Transport MSc from Cranfield University and a business degree from The University of Derby.
Air Berlin (AB) will equip the 14 Airbus A320/A321 aircraft it has on order with Sharklet wing tip devices, cutting its fuel burn by up to 3.5%. NIKI (HG), which is part of the Air Berlin group, will take delivery of its first Sharklet-equipped A320 in spring 2013. AB said the move will cut its carbon dioxide emissions by about 1,000 tonnes per aircraft annually, the equivalent of 55 flights from Berlin to Palma de Mallorca.
Rockwell Collins, which announced a retrofit update to the Boeing 757/767 flight deck at the Farnborough Airshow in July, has revealed that it is planning to add synthetic vision capability by around 2016.
UK airports operator BAA has lost its most recent appeal to keep London Stansted Airport (STN), although it has vowed to challenge the decision in the Supreme Court. The appeal on July 26 is the latest development in a long-running battle between the UK Competition Commission (CC) and BAA. “We are pleased that our decision on STN has once again been upheld,” BAA Remedies Implementation Group chairman Laura Carstensen said. “It is surely now time for BAA to accept the verdict and proceed with the sale.”
