Robert Wall is Executive Editor for Defense and Space. Based in London, he directs a team of military and space journalists across the U.S., Europe and Asia-Pacific.
Wall initially worked at Aviation Week from 1994-2012. Starting as a Pentagon reporter, he was promoted to European-based International Editor in 2005, managing a team of aerospace writers from Beijing to London.
Wall left Aviation Week in 2012 to report on Europe’s defense industry for Bloomberg News. He then worked at the Wall Street Journal from 2014-2023, first as a defense and aerospace reporter and later as Tech News Editor, based in Silicon Valley. In 2023 he became editor of The Military Balance at the London-based International Institute for Strategic Studies think tank. Wall holds a Master of Arts in International Affairs from George Washington University in Washington.
