Airbus booked 170 orders in September, exceeding the company’s 2013 sales target and bringing its total net orders for 2013 to 1,062, creating a backlog of almost 5,300 aircraft—nearly eight years of production, according to an Airbus statement.

Boeing is reporting 170 commercial aircraft deliveries during the third-quarter, comprised of 112 737 NGs, four 747s, five 767s, 26 777s and 23 787s.

IATA is reporting strong expansion of global passenger traffic in August, with overall RPKs rising 6.8% and capacity increasing 5.6% year-over-year, delivering a total market load factor of 83.4%—equaling the record high load factor set in July 2011.
