Maksim covers aerospace developments in Central Asia for Aviation Week. He has worked for Russia's Air Transport Observer magazine and was in charge of several ATO sister aerospace publications after working for the Moscow-based CAST defense think tank.
Maksim has a degree in international relations from MGIMO University, Moscow.
Russia’s Volga-Dnepr Group is building a new hangar at Sharjah International Airport in the United Arab Emirates to expand its maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) service capabilities for freighter and passenger aircraft. The new hangar, expected to be fully operational by January, will be run by Volga-Dnepr Technics division through its local subsidiary, Volga-Dnepr Gulf Co.
MOSCOW — On Nov. 22 the Russian air force received its first two Su-30SM fighters, domestic variants of the export best seller Su-30MKI. Thirty aircraft were ordered in March 2012. Deliveries to the military will continue in 2013 and last through 2015.
