He started his journalism career in 1992 as a freelance writer for Sueddeutsche Zeitung, Germany’s largest daily national newspaper and soon specialised in air transport. Jens joined Aviation Week and Aviation Daily in 2000 as one of the European correspondents. Later his role was expanded to cover international air transport. In 2013 he was named Managing Editor Commercial.
Jens frequently appears on radio and TV to comment on industry matters. In 2003, he received the Hugo Junkers Award of the German aviation press for his coverage of Fairchild Dornier’s bankruptcy. He was named the country’s top travel and air transport writer by the Travel Industry Club three times. Jens graduated from the Munich School of Journalism.
Lufthansa Cargo plans to cut 10% of its work force by 2006 and make additional organizational changes in a bid to boost its bottom line. The airline's CEO Jean-Peter Jansen told reporters yesterday that Lufthansa Cargo is targeting a EUR233 million improvement in annual results, starting in 2006. The improvement will be made up of cost cuts and additional revenues. The airline was hit hard by a drastic yield decline in the first six months, when average prices dropped about 9%.

Iraqi Airways plans to resume scheduled services within the next 10 days after a 14-year suspension, completing a first test flight on Monday. An Iraqi Airways Boeing 737 took off from Jordan's capital Amman on a service to Baghdad's international airport.
