In 2013 he was named Managing Editor Commercial.

Jens frequently appears on radio and TV to comment on industry matters. In 2003, he received the Hugo Junkers Award of the German aviation press for his coverage of Fairchild Dornier’s bankruptcy. He was named the country’s top travel and air transport writer by the Travel Industry Club three times. Jens graduated from the Munich School of Journalism.

As many as six aircraft manufacturers will compete in the 100-seat regional jet market in the coming years, warned Terry McGaughan, who heads Boeing's 717 sales force, which could mean lower prices for airline customers who take advantage of the battle. According to Boeing's market forecast, delivered at the European Regions Airline Association general assembly in Vienna, the six suppliers will have to fight for a market of about 1,000 units in the next 20 years.

Finding a way to finance new aircraft is turning out to be one of the biggest hurdles for airlines to placing new orders, Embraer Executive VP-Airline Markets Fred Curado said at the European Regions Airline Association's general assembly. Capital markets are turning out to be "too conservative" when it comes to financing aircraft acquisitions, Curado complained. Consequently, he does not foresee a big market upturn in the immediate future in the regional arena.
