Jens frequently appears on radio and TV to comment on industry matters. In 2003, he received the Hugo Junkers Award of the German aviation press for his coverage of Fairchild Dornier’s bankruptcy. He was named the country’s top travel and air transport writer by the Travel Industry Club three times. Jens graduated from the Munich School of Journalism.

The SAS Group announced another management shakeup yesterday after the company posted wider losses for the fourth quarter and full year 2004. Executive VP-Airline Strategy Soeren Belin is leaving the company and will be replaced by John Dueholm. The company is still looking for someone to succeed Dueholm in his previous role in the airline support and related businesses units.

Lufthansa's traffic was up 6.8% in January on 2.4% more capacity, the airline said yesterday. While Asia/Pacific remained the strongest growth region with a gain of 16%, traffic was up 0.5% in Europe and 3.1% on transatlantic routes. Load factor rose three percentage points to 73.2%. Lufthansa Cargo's traffic grew 10.5% on 12.8% more capacity. "We anticipated a greater increase in capacity and more demand following the excellent traffic figures released by British Airways and Air France-KLM," HypoVereinsbank analyst Uwe Weinreich said. -JF
