Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport has started construction of Pier H, a new terminal that is expected to be used mainly by low-fare airlines. The pier will feature seven departure gates but no aircraft bridges. It will be used for Schengen and non-Schengen traffic. Schiphol said the pier will be opened in November. Its construction was considered to be necessary because of the expected strong growth of SkyTeam airlines in the adjacent airport areas. -JF
