In 2013 he was named Managing Editor Commercial.

Jens frequently appears on radio and TV to comment on industry matters. In 2003, he received the Hugo Junkers Award of the German aviation press for his coverage of Fairchild Dornier’s bankruptcy. He was named the country’s top travel and air transport writer by the Travel Industry Club three times. Jens graduated from the Munich School of Journalism.

Lufthansa Technik predicts there is "good chance" the company will expand its business in North and South America, CEO August Wilhelm Henningsen told The DAILY. A host of startup carriers and a changing attitude toward outsourcing at major U.S. carriers mean there are new opportunities for the MRO provider. Henningsen would also not rule out setting up a base in South or Central America, where labor costs are lower. That would be an "interesting alternative," he said.

Iberia on Friday expressed interest in Mexican holding company Cintra and its plan to sell Aeromexico and Mexicana, with one Spanish paper reporting that Iberia is particularly interested in acquiring Mexicana. "Iberia is looking at the process in Mexico with a lot of interest," a spokesman was quoted as saying.

Lufthansa could publish preliminary results along with a dividend payment announcement this week, the German financial community believes. Analysts expect the airline to post an operating profit of more than EUR300 million (US$396 million) and a net profit. The airline is scheduled to announce its financial figures on March 23. The supervisory board is expected shortly to approve of a new five-year contract for CEO Wolfgang Mayrhuber, who took over the airline in 2003. -JF
