He started his journalism career in 1992 as a freelance writer for Sueddeutsche Zeitung, Germany’s largest daily national newspaper and soon specialised in air transport. Jens joined Aviation Week and Aviation Daily in 2000 as one of the European correspondents. Later his role was expanded to cover international air transport. In 2013 he was named Managing Editor Commercial.
Jens frequently appears on radio and TV to comment on industry matters. In 2003, he received the Hugo Junkers Award of the German aviation press for his coverage of Fairchild Dornier’s bankruptcy. He was named the country’s top travel and air transport writer by the Travel Industry Club three times. Jens graduated from the Munich School of Journalism.

Lufthansa's chairman/CEO yesterday sent a strong signal that the company plans to participate in the ongoing sector consolidation. "We believe that consolidation makes sense," Wolfgang Mayrhuber said at a news conference in Frankfurt. "We have shown that we are able to turn around companies, we have well established partnerships, we have a solid management and our financials are solid," he stressed. "Consolidation is something we have on our radar screen."
Air France cabin crew threatened to stage a four-day strike starting on Thursday to push through improvements in pay and work rules. Chairman and CEO Jean-Cyril Spinetta is understood to have met union officials on Tuesday in an effort to find a last-minute resolution. There were no official results of the meeting available late yesterday. Negotiations have been ongoing for several months and two unions in September announced a two day walk-out for late October that has now been increased to four days. [email protected]
