He started his journalism career in 1992 as a freelance writer for Sueddeutsche Zeitung, Germany’s largest daily national newspaper and soon specialised in air transport. Jens joined Aviation Week and Aviation Daily in 2000 as one of the European correspondents. Later his role was expanded to cover international air transport. In 2013 he was named Managing Editor Commercial.
Jens frequently appears on radio and TV to comment on industry matters. In 2003, he received the Hugo Junkers Award of the German aviation press for his coverage of Fairchild Dornier’s bankruptcy. He was named the country’s top travel and air transport writer by the Travel Industry Club three times. Jens graduated from the Munich School of Journalism.
Emirates needs to raise about $28 billion in financing within the next seven years in order to be able to pay for its outstanding aircraft orders, Gary Chapman, president of Emirates Group Services, said in a news agency interview. The airline is taking delivery of two aircraft per month over the next six years including 78 more Airbus A380s. Emirates has a fleet of 150 aircraft and firm orders for 203 more. Chapman targets around 85% of financing from debt and the rest from equity.
Lufthansa and Germanwings plan to more closely cooperate early next year as the legacy carrier and its low-cost affiliate start interlining. Also, Lufthansa will open its frequent flyer program to Germanwings passengers, among other measures.
Peter Jansen will continue as Lufthansa Technik’s CFO for five more years. The company’s board of directors extended his contract at its most recent meeting. Jansen has been serving in his current role since 2001. CEO August-Wilhelm Henningsen signed a contract for another five-year term in 2009. He has been CEO since 2001.
