Based in Washington, Jen managed Aviation Week’s worldwide defense, space and security coverage from 2013 to January 2024.
Prior to taking on the Executive Editor role, Jen was Aviation Week's Congressional Editor. Jen came to Aviation Week in March 2011 from Politico, where she covered the intersection of defense and politics. She also worked as a reporter and editor for Defense Daily, Inside the Army, The Other Paper and The Columbus Dispatch.
Jen received a Master’s degree in journalism as a Kiplinger Fellow at the Ohio State University. She graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in history and journalism from the University of Michigan.
U.S. Sen. James Inhofe (R-Okla.) on July 6 introduced a “Pilot’s Bill of Rights” that in the event FAA takes action against a pilot, would provide them with “all relevant evidence” of the administration’s decision to move ahead. It would also alter the appeals process, making changes to how the National Transportation Safety Board reviews FAA acts and would allow a pilot appealing an FAA decision to opt for a federal district court to review the appeal.
A House panel recommends killing the Northrop Grumman-built James Webb Space Telescope, calling the Hubble successor “billions of dollars over budget and plagued by poor management.”
The chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee is taking the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to task for two recent security breakdowns. Rep. Peter King (R-N.Y.) says he is “gravely concerned” about an incident in which a Nigerian national flew from New York John F. Kennedy International Airport to Los Angeles on an expired boarding pass, and another in which a passenger boarded a flight without having his boarding pass checked. Both incidents occurred on Virgin America flights.
