Prior to taking on the Executive Editor role, Jen was Aviation Week's Congressional Editor. Jen came to Aviation Week in March 2011 from Politico, where she covered the intersection of defense and politics. She also worked as a reporter and editor for Defense Daily, Inside the Army, The Other Paper and The Columbus Dispatch.
Jen received a Master’s degree in journalism as a Kiplinger Fellow at the Ohio State University. She graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in history and journalism from the University of Michigan.

The FAA moved one step closer to a partial shutdown Thursday as lawmakers continued their disagreement over extending the FAA reauthorization bill. House lawmakers are firing back at the European Union’s (EU) plan to regulate the greenhouse gas emissions of all aircraft—regardless of nationality—flying into and out of Europe. Aviation is to be included in the EU’s Emissions Trading System (ETS) as of Jan. 1, 2012, but the European Union Emissions Trading Scheme Prohibition Act of 2011, introduced yesterday by Rep. John Mica (R.Fla.), would block U.S. civil aircraft operators from obeying the European statute.
