Prior to taking on the Executive Editor role, Jen was Aviation Week's Congressional Editor. Jen came to Aviation Week in March 2011 from Politico, where she covered the intersection of defense and politics. She also worked as a reporter and editor for Defense Daily, Inside the Army, The Other Paper and The Columbus Dispatch.
Jen received a Master’s degree in journalism as a Kiplinger Fellow at the Ohio State University. She graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in history and journalism from the University of Michigan.
Boeing’s chief financial officer says the recently won U.S. Air Force KC-46A aerial refueling tanker program is expected to be “profitable over time” despite the company’s bid strategy of knowingly risking profitability in the development phase. “We had always bid this contract thinking that on the [engineering and manufacturing development] phase it would be very low profitability or even break-even,” said CFO James Bell during a second-quarter earnings telecon July 27. “Nothing has changed from that philosophy.”
Asked to stop reaping profits from the partial shutdown of the FAA, the Air Transport Association (ATA) says airlines will continue collecting the fees, citing an “excessive tax burden” on the industry. Sens. Jay Rockefeller (D-W.Va.) and Maria Cantwell (D-Wash.) on Wednesday wrote a letter asking Delta Chairman and CEO Richard Anderson, as the current chairman of the ATA, to persuade airlines to set aside revenues they gain by continuing to collect money from passengers that otherwise would have gone to the Airport and Airway Trust Fund.
