Prior to taking on the Executive Editor role, Jen was Aviation Week's Congressional Editor. Jen came to Aviation Week in March 2011 from Politico, where she covered the intersection of defense and politics. She also worked as a reporter and editor for Defense Daily, Inside the Army, The Other Paper and The Columbus Dispatch.
Jen received a Master’s degree in journalism as a Kiplinger Fellow at the Ohio State University. She graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in history and journalism from the University of Michigan.

The Senate Armed Services Committee indicates the U.S. may step up the use of drones and counter-artillery gear to counter attacks and artillery strikes against U.S. forces in Afghanistan emanating from inside Pakistan. In a strongly worded speech to the Council on Foreign Relations on Oct. 21, committee Chairman Carl Levin (D-Mich.) built on the concerns of Adm. Michael Mullen, the former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, about Pakistan supporting and providing safe havens for terrorist networks that are attacking U.S. troops.
Members of the U.S. Congress met with leaders of ICAO in Montreal Oct. 21 to denounce the European Union’s emissions trading system (ETS), due to go into effect Jan. 1. The lawmakers were led by Rep. John Mica (R-Fla.), chairman of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, which has approved a bill that would prohibit U.S. airlines from participating in the ETS. The House is scheduled to consider the bill as early as today. The Senate has not proposed a companion measure. Mica calls the ETS ill-conceived and a violation of international law.
