Based in Washington, Jen managed Aviation Week’s worldwide defense, space and security coverage from 2013 to January 2024.
Prior to taking on the Executive Editor role, Jen was Aviation Week's Congressional Editor. Jen came to Aviation Week in March 2011 from Politico, where she covered the intersection of defense and politics. She also worked as a reporter and editor for Defense Daily, Inside the Army, The Other Paper and The Columbus Dispatch.
Jen received a Master’s degree in journalism as a Kiplinger Fellow at the Ohio State University. She graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in history and journalism from the University of Michigan.
Following the lead of the House, the Senate Armed Services Committee May 22 passed a bill to authorize defense spending in fiscal 2015 that—like its companion bill passed by the House—rejects many of the Pentagon’s proposed aircraft fleet reductions aimed at preserving modernization dollars for future programs.
Not only is Congress moving toward sanctioning China, diplomatic consequences are also underway. The U.S. embassy in Beijing denied visas to three groups of Chinese space officials who were planning to attend the 30th Space Symposium in Colorado Springs. Elliot Pullham, who heads the Space Foundation that sponsors the annual event, announced while moderating a panel of top space-business leaders that the delegations would not be attending.
