NEW DELHI — India’s Mars probe, currently orbiting Earth before it embarks on a nine-month journey to the red planet, has activated its Mars Color Camera (MCC) and sent back its first images. The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has shared a single image of India and the surrounding region taken on Nov. 19 at 13:50 (IST) at a resolution of 3.53 km from an altitude of 67,975 km. The photo clearly shows India, the Indian Ocean, the Bay of Bengal, the Himalayas and the Indo-Gangetic plain.

NEW DELHI — AgustaWestland has decided to proceed with arbitration over the scandal-plagued sale of 12 AW101 helicopters to India for VIP transport, even as the Indian Defense Ministry continues to discount the threat as it moves to terminate the award, saying “these proceedings are not applicable on the breach of the pre-contract integrity pact.”

Abu Dhabi-based Etihad Airways has finalized a deal to purchase a 24% stake in Jet Airways, marking the completion of the first cross border transaction in the Indian aviation sector since last year’s change to the country’s ownership laws. The confirmation of the nearly $330 million deal comes after all necessary regulatory approvals were obtained by both airlines from Indian authorities on Nov. 12. The two sides closed the transaction on Nov. 20.
