India’s state-run space agency is developing a low-cost small launch vehicle for compact satellites that is set to debut in little more than a year.

The new launch vehicle will have the capacity to orbit satellites of up to 700 kg. Work began on the launcher a few months ago.

India is aiming to step up its satellite launches next year by having one mission per month as it tries to magnify its presence in the global space business.
