Hainan Airlines has chosen the Rolls-Royce Trent 700 engine for an increased total of around 45 Airbus A330s that the carrier will receive from two national bulk orders for the type, industry sources say.
A330 Multi Role Tanker Transport (MRTT) tankers will be available in the next decade as newly built aircraft, not only as converted used airliners, according to Airbus.
To sell the MA700 in most large markets, Avic will need FAA or EASA endorsement of the CAAC type certificate. But the FAA and CAAC have not yet completed a program, based on the ARJ21, under which the U.S. agency would recognize its Chinese counterpart’s certification.
