Bill covers business aviation and advanced air mobility for Aviation Week Network. Bill was the recipient of the National Business Aviation Association's Gold Wing Award in 2017 and 2022 for his reporting on drones and advanced air mobility, respectively, and in 1997 received the British Royal Aeronautical Society Aerospace Journalist of the Year award in the business aviation category. He is the author of the book, Enter The Drones, The FAA and UAVs in America, published in 2016.
The FAA has issued separate notices seeking information from industry on providing counter-unmanned aircraft systems technology for deployment at civilian airports and for testing capacity to determine the risk associated with a large jet engine ingesting a small drone.
San Francisco International (SFO) announced the start of a program to rapidly test airport workers for COVID-19 on Aug. 24, joining other major airports that have introduced on-site employee testing facilities for the disease.
The report calls on Congress to “enact, without delay, appropriations and any required authorities" for the Office of Space Commerce "to build this critical capability with requisite personnel, office infrastructure and authorities.”
