Adrian is Auckland bureau chief for Aviation Week, based in New Zealand. He covers commercial aviation in the Asia-Pacific region.
Adrian was previously based in Aviation Week’s Washington office for nine years, writing for a range of the group’s publications and covering many aspects of the commercial aviation industry. He has won Australasian and international awards for his aviation writing.
Prior to joining Aviation Week in 2002, Adrian covered aviation industry and policy issues for two other publishing companies in Washington. He has also worked for newspapers in Texas and New Zealand, covering a wide range of topics. Adrian graduated from Auckland University with a degree in history and English in 1992.
Air New Zealand will reveal its plans for a major overhaul of its international operations early next year, and will move as quickly as possible to implement the changes, a senior executive says. While some changes will take longer to implement, others will be rolled out straight away, General Manager-International Operations Christopher Luxon tells Aviation Week. The longer-term actions are those that involve other stakeholders and those that will require more work “to get the execution right,” he adds.
The deadline for Qantas and three of its unions to reach contract agreements is fast approaching, and it appears that little progress has been made in reconciling labor-management differences.
Qantas plans to deploy its next Airbus A380 deliveries on its Hong Kong route as the carrier continues to phase in A380s in its key international long-haul markets. The airline is due to receive its 11th and 12th A380s this year, enabling it to introduce the aircraft on the Sydney-Hong Kong route Jan. 15. The A380 will replace four of seven weekly Boeing 747-400 flights.
