Adrian is Auckland bureau chief for Aviation Week, based in New Zealand. He covers commercial aviation in the Asia-Pacific region.
Adrian was previously based in Aviation Week’s Washington office for nine years, writing for a range of the group’s publications and covering many aspects of the commercial aviation industry. He has won Australasian and international awards for his aviation writing.
Prior to joining Aviation Week in 2002, Adrian covered aviation industry and policy issues for two other publishing companies in Washington. He has also worked for newspapers in Texas and New Zealand, covering a wide range of topics. Adrian graduated from Auckland University with a degree in history and English in 1992.
Lion Air is looking for international partners to form joint ventures to operate its training centers, which the carrier intends to grow for its own use as well as third-party work. Indonesia-based Lion Group has two training organizations—the Wings Flying School and the Lion Training Center—covering pilots, cabin crew and maintenance personnel. The carrier likely will see an increased need for employee training, as it has one of the world’s largest aircraft order backlogs.
All Nippon Airways (ANA) and Japan Airlines yesterday conducted inspections of their Boeing 787 fleets after faulty wiring was discovered by ANA in an engine fire extinguisher. ANA discovered improper wiring in the engine fire extinguisher of a 787 during a pre-takeoff inspection, and subsequently found the problem in two more of its 787s.
