Adrian is Auckland bureau chief for Aviation Week, based in New Zealand. He covers commercial aviation in the Asia-Pacific region.
Adrian was previously based in Aviation Week’s Washington office for nine years, writing for a range of the group’s publications and covering many aspects of the commercial aviation industry. He has won Australasian and international awards for his aviation writing.
Prior to joining Aviation Week in 2002, Adrian covered aviation industry and policy issues for two other publishing companies in Washington. He has also worked for newspapers in Texas and New Zealand, covering a wide range of topics. Adrian graduated from Auckland University with a degree in history and English in 1992.
A conflict between the two main air traffic management industry exhibitions appears to have been resolved, with one of the rival events moving from Europe to China while also shifting to a date much later in the year. The ATC Global Conference, organized by UBM, will be held in Beijing from Sept. 17-19 next year. This long-standing conference for many years has been run in Amsterdam—and before that Maastricht—typically in February or March. Until the latest change, it was scheduled to be held again in Amsterdam on March 11-13.
AirAsia has taken another step toward aligning its Philippines operations with the rebranding of Zest Airways, one of two local carriers partly owned by AirAsia. Philippine aviation authorities granted approval for the carrier to change its name to AirAsia Zest, and the new aircraft livery will feature the AirAsia group’s familiar red and white pattern.
