VietJet Air takes delivery of first A321, Airbus's 9,000th aircraft
Airbus has celebrated the delivery of its 9,000th aircraft at a ceremony in Hamburg, Germany on March 20. The aircraft is the first A321 to be delivered to Vietnamese carrier VietJetAir and will join the carrier’s all-Airbus A320 family fleet flying on its fast-growing Asia-Pacific network.

Brussels Airlines A320 in Tintin ‘la ville Rose’ special livery
A Brussels Airlines A320 with a special livery inspired by the Tintin comic book “Red Rackham’s treasure” landed at Toulouse-Blagnac airport March 16. The livery was unveiled at the airlines’ Brussels Airport home base in Belgium. The aircraft is named “Rackham” after one of Tintin’s most popular adventures. The unique livery represents a great black shark, based on the shark shaped submarine invented by popular character Professeur Tournesol in the comic. The painting was carried out by aircraft paint artist Andre Eisele in Ostrava, Czech Republic and took 1,500 man hours in total. The special livery will remain until 2019.

Cargolux receives 40th Boeing 747F
Luxembourg-based cargo carrier Cargolux Airlines has taken delivery of its 30th Boeing 747 freighter to the. To mark the occasion, Cargolux’s latest 747-8F carries a special decal of the “Father of the Boeing 747,” Joe Sutter, the Boeing engineer who led the team that designed the airplane. Cargolux currently has two unfilled orders for 747-8F, with the all-Boeing carrier operating a fleet composed entirely of 747-400Fs and 747-8Fs.
Hawaiian Airlines completes first 717 main cabin retrofit
Hawaiian Airlines has completed a comprehensive retrofit on the first of its 18 Boeing 717 aircraft, featuring an island-inspired interior cabin redesign and new lightweight Main Cabin seating from Acro Aircraft Seating Ltd. The airline’s entire narrowbody fleet, which operates more than 160 short-haul flights daily between the islands of the state, will be retrofitted to feature these new cabin enhancements by the end of 2015.
