Airbus A350 XWB arrives in Hong Kong
On July 28, the Airbus A350-900 developmental aircraft MSN005 landed at Hong Kong International Airport and will carry out crucial hot and humid tests similar to normal airline operations in the region. MH17 flight recorders reveal damage consistent with missile explosion
The Malaysia Airlines (MH17) Boeing 777-200ER that crashed over Ukraine July 17, killing all 298 on board, was destroyed because of “massive explosive decompression” due to “multiple fragmentation damage caused by a missile explosion,” according to the Ukrainian Security and Defense Council. Investigators reached this conclusion after processing the data retrieved from the aircraft’s flight recorders. Ethiopian Airlines begins daily Heathrow service
Ethiopian Airlines began daily Addis Ababa-London Heathrow Boeing 787 service. "We are pleased to now offer a daily service to our customers to and from London, one of our most important routes," Tewolde Gebremariam, Ethiopian Airlines CEO said.

PEOPLExpress begins operations
Vision Airlines’ revived low-cost carrier (LCC), PEOPLExpress, began operations June 30. The relaunch of 1980s’ LCC offers service between Newport News, Virginia; Newark, New Jersey; Boston, Massachusetts; and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
