American Airlines turned 90 years old April 15. It is began with the Robertson Aircraft Corporation DH-4 mail flight piloted by Charles Lindbergh on a Chicago-St. Louis route (above) [credit American Airlines]. RAC went through mergers and name changes, becoming American Airlines in the 1930s.

 

Shown is a line up of American Airlines aircraft in 1976. Today, American Airlines and American Eagle operate 6,700 flights a day to almost 350 cities. American flies to over 50 countries. 

In another milestone this week, the first US-built A321 for American (below) flew at the Mobile, Alabama, Airbus facility .
