Zambian government has announced plans for new national carrier
The Zambian government has established plans to set up a new national carrier under the name of 'Zambia Airways 2014 Ltd.', ch-aviation reports.
The Times of Zambia reported that the holding company was incorporate in July with Zambia's Secretary to the Treasury Fredson Yamba, Works and Supply Permanent Secretary Charles Sipanje and Finance Permanent Secretary Pamela Kabamba appointed as its directors.
Zambia's chief government spokesperson Chishimba Kambwili said: “We are talking to suppliers of the airplanes on the purchase of aeroplanes as reflected in the 2016 budget so that by the end of next year, the company is fully operational.”
Zambia Airways was founded in 1964, but went into liquidation in 1995 due to the economic strain in Zambia at the time.
