Poll: How Are You Responding To The COVID-19-related Decline In Airline Bookings And Traffic?

JetBlue Airways is considering additional capacity cuts beyond the 5% announced last week, as bookings continue to slump over concerns about the coronavirus outbreak.

JetBlue on Mar. 9 suspended its guidance for 2020, citing “significant deterioration” in forward bookings since the novel coronavirus outbreak exploded outside of China late February.

The company is now expecting a negative hit to Q1 unit revenues of at least six points and a March reduction in the mid-teens. There is still little visibility in Q2, but the company noted that “trends have worsened through last week and have not yet stabilized.” As of Feb. 25, JetBlue’s Q1 schedule was booked at 87% of revenue forecast, while its Q2 schedule was booked at just 22%.
