Yemenia to suspend flights to France

Yemen News Agency reported that Yemenia Airways is to suspend all flights to and from France as of August 11, the company's representative for France, Switzerland and Belgium said.

Faisal Amran said business reasons were behind the decision, which comes after a sharp fall in the number of passengers between the two states due to reduced flights to some African states.

“A final flight will originate in Paris heading to Sana’a on August 10 and after it, all flights shall be suspended until further notice,” he concluded.

Late last month, a Yemenia flight plunged into the Indian Ocean off Comoros with 153 passengers and crew onboard.

A French search crew found the black boxes earlier this week and the boxes are currently being reviewed. Some pieces of the airliner and only 20 bodies have been recovered so far since it came down on June 30.

A sole French passenger survived the disaster.
