Yemeni officials make arrest and seize more suspect parcels

Yemeni authorities seized and were examining 26 suspect parcels on Saturday, a day after two others containing explosives sent from the country were intercepted.

Earlier in the day Yemeni authorities arrested a woman thought to be involved in sending explosive packages to the United States after surrounding a house in the capital Sanaa.

"National security forces have just been able arrest the woman," the official told Reuters news agency, adding that authorities traced the woman through a telephone number she left with a cargo company.

Yemen's President Ali Abdullah Saleh said, "Yemen is determined to continue fighting terrorism and al Qaeda in cooperation with its partners. But we do not want anyone to interfere in Yemeni affairs by hunting down al Qaeda."
