Wataniya Airways touches down in Beirut

Wataniya Airways has started its scheduled flights to Lebanon today. It will operate daily flights to Beirut's Rafik Hariri International Airport.

The first Wataniya Aircraft landed in Beirut’s airport this afternoon, taxiing in under the traditional water salute that ushers in a new airline.

“We are delighted to have been able to select Beirut as the second destination for Wataniya Airways as our research has indicated this to be one of the most popular routes for travellers from Kuwait,” said Wataniya Airways chairman, Abdulsalam Al Bahar. “Beirut is one of the most vibrant cities in the Middle East, offering a plethora of benefits from business to culture to popular entertainment.”

“Kuwait has long had a close relationship with this magnificent multi-cultural city and Wataniya Airways looks forward to servicing the high demand for both business travel and those visiting their friends and relatives working in both Kuwait and Lebanon.” Al Bahar added.

Chief executive George Cooper said: “The introduction of this route coupled with the other existing and planned routes indicate the commitment of Wataniya Airways to provide convenient and competitive air travel options to new destinations.

“The recent delivery of another Airbus A320 aircraft has allowed us to strengthen our short haul network and provide our guests with more choice, convenient schedules and an enhanced travel experience.”

In Beirut, Wataniya Airways has appointed leading aviation, hospitality and travel advisor, Planet Group, as its general sales agent.
